9/30/09 Aspens turning color in the pines of the Black Hills!
9/29/09 Same interruption!! This is our lovely great niece, Brianna, holding her new brother - what a beautiful picture!!! She's the spitting image of her mother Kati!
9/29/09 We interrupt this blog for an important announcement. Here is Nolan William Holcombe, arrived 9/16/09, a whopping 9lb 15 oz and 21 inches tall!! Our first great nephew on the Holcombe side of the family!! Yahoo!!! And yes, his grandparents (Bear's brother Warner and his wife Theresa are from Michigan and the the Dad, Kirk grew up there - hence the Michigan outfit!!

9/29/09 In 1929, Potato Creek Johnny, whose real name was John Perrett, found one of the largest gold nuggets, 8.5 ounces, in the Black Hills. The prospector was a beloved character in Deadwood (pop. 1,380).
