10/8/09 Oh yea, loved this place!!! We bought 5 pepper wreaths to take home for Christmas and one for my kitchen!! We had them in the Cruiser on the way home, and when we opened the back and moved one of the wreaths, there were about 100 fruit flies!! So we had to bag them, put them under our bed in the RV and while I hate to use pesticides, we did have to spray the bags with Raid (just a little) so we could remove the wreaths and let them stay under the bed in the open! We hope they make it home and it probably wasn't my smartest plan!! But they are beautiful and would be so festive!!! (and every night I pray I don't see fruit flies!)
10/8/09 A Bistro for Bear!
10/8/09 A building with drying chili peppers on the roof!!! We found out at the museum, many, if not all the peppers used to be dried this way, but only a couple of years ago, the Dept of Health told the residents they could not dry the peppers on the roof or out in the open (they used to have them all over the town, anywhere they would fit to dry them) - they had to be dried at a factory. Hatch also has a chili festival on Labor Day weekend each year and this year, the chili could not be brought from home, which most of the challenging chili tasting pots came from, the chili had to be made at the park - it limited the number of entries considerably. They also said that there was a new pepper that had the chili taste but not the heat for those allergic to the capsaicin....And the point?????

10/8/09 This is Hatch, the chile pepper capital of the world!!! Who's happy???
