9/25/09 We were lucky enough to see the artists at work creating a new panel!
9/25/09 A piece in the works of construction. Each one is drawn by the artist and marked for each color corn, like paint by number but actually paint by corn! The corn is then staple gunned into the frame of work. It's truly amazing what they have done. A picture of the inside is ahead, and all the pictures are of corn cobs!
9/25/09 Here are colored corn used in the art, there were a couple under construction while we were there. Each year the entire theme is changed on the Palace, and one or two panels are replaced at a time until the entire theme has been replaced!
9/25/09 And on each corner light post, fabulously decorated with corn on the cob!!
9/25/09 Mitchell, SD - The home of the Corn Palace!! The art is created with corn cobs - cut in half along with other grains. the art you see is made of the cobs, better pictures to follow!
Here's is the front entrance of the Corn Palace.
