9/21/09 - One of the four people at the park was Wells. His friend has told us to walk to the vault, which we would have missed had she not mentioned it. We then met Wells. It's a long story, but I will try to keep it short. He asks us where we are from - we say CT, then near Hartford and he actually asked "what town?" We mention Wethersfield. And not only was he from Wethersfield, CT, but his family was one of the original families there dating back to 1640!!! Welles Road, (Welles is his family's surname) turns into Main Street in Old Wethersfield, where we live and our street is right off of it!! Before my time (or at least I don't remember it), there was a farm at Ridge and Welles Road that had cows and horses and he said it was last Riding Farm in Wethersfield. His family used to own 4-5000 areas in town. A residential area, Welles Farms Village was where they lived. I have to say, we were just in shock! I mean he is related to the man who built my parents house and to someone I went to high school with! Too Cool!!!

Then we talk about the work he did and how he ended up in Springfield, IL - he used to work for the Aetna Casualty and Surety Company - I tell him that was my first career - in the Surety end of thing - the Bond Department. He says that is where he worked and was transferred out to ST Louis, MO to be a Bond Manager. I had been transferred to Minneapolis, MN as a Bond Manager in 1982! The man he was trained under, made my life a bit difficult in Hartford as he had become an agent and didn't think women had any place in Bond business!!! We knew many of the same people, and he had moved to Springfield, IL after he left the Aetna. He had also volunteered, we think, in the building in Wethersfield - The Webb House, that is now a historic home, where George Washington and Rochambeau had planned a battle - Bear and I had been married in the back of the home, in a historic barn 15 years ago!!! It seemed ethereal to us, we just kept talking and finding areas where our lives had crossed paths at different times. To say it is a small world and there is only 6 degrees of separation, is an understatement on this day!!! Simply out of this world and so heart warming!!
